For the perfect outdoor entertaining experience, perfect weather is key. That is why the Fall (at least here in the South) is the perfect time of year for outdoor entertaining. Here in Tennessee we have warm days that turn into cool comfortable nights.. you know, the ones where all you need is a light jacket and you’re good to go! So I’m so excited to finally share how Josh and I turned our backyard into the perfect space for outdoor entertaining!
We started by building a paver patio next to our deck. We knew we wanted a nice flat and hard surface for a fire pit and chairs. It was Josh’s idea to do the pavers, and I’m so happy with the way it turned out! We bought four adirondack chairs and put a few end tables that we already had next to them. We also added a few outdoor pillows and a basket with extra blankets (for the nights that might get a little too cold) which helped make this space feel comfortable and cozy.
Moving on up to the deck, we wanted this space to feel like an Italian Bistro (hey, it’s in my blood). The striped outdoor rug and outdoor bistro lights were really the only two things that made the biggest impact for achieving this Italian theme. Then, adding some greenery and table settings finished off the look.
The most important thing to us was to make this space feel comfortable. Turning your backyard into an outdoor living space makes you feel like you’ve increased the square footage of your house because you’ve essentially added another room to your home. We did this with our screened in porch last year and we decided we just couldn’t stop there. Some of my favorite places to find furniture that will help you develop the look of your outdoor space even more are Wayfair, Pottery Barn, World Market, and (probably my absolute favorite) Arhaus. The others may be slightly more affordable, but if you’re looking for quality, long lasting and UNIQUE pieces, such as beautiful sectionals, Arhaus would be my first choice. I hope this inspires you to create your own outdoor retreat and entertaining area! If you like what I’ve created with mine, you can get the look by clicking on the links below 🙂
