You know us Italians love meatballs! I experiment all the time with what kind of meatballs to make! There are no rules with what you add to this recipe. You should have fun and use flavors you already love. I like to keep my meatballs on the healthy side when it comes to italian food because I’m more then likely already eating a lot of carbs and/or dairy. So here is my take on a healthy turkey meatball 🙂
INGREDIENTS :
– 1 lb ground turkey
– 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
– 1 tbsp fresh (or ground) garlic
– pinch of salt
– 1 tbsp italian seasoning
– 3 slices of whole wheat bread, crumbled (day old works best)
– 3 tbsp egg whites
– olive oil for frying
DIRECTIONS :
Mix all ingredients together by hand. Squeezing it all until everything is well mix. Then take a heaping tbsp about of meat and roll between palms until it makes a ball.
Next heat olive oil in a frying pan on medium to high heat. Then drop in your meatballs and cook until dark golden brown all the way around.
If you wanted to stop there you could, but to make them extra delicious add in your favorite pasta sauce and continue to cook until everything is well heated. I let my simmer for about 30 minutes to let all the flavor absorb in to the meat.
If you’re curious what sauce I used here check back in later this week! A little hint… there’s goat cheese involved… 🙂
Hope you enjoy this one! And definitely check back in later this week for more!! Love y’all!
