Whether real or fake, incorporating plants into your home can be such a great way to bring life into the space! Adding something living (whether it’s actually living or not), truly makes a space feel more alive. I love the fresh energy I feel in a room with plants. I’ve talked in previous blog posts about the importance of bringing the indoors out, but these plant decor ideas are such a great way to bring the outdoors in!

The types of plants you use are a completely personal choice. Personally, I tend to lean towards neutral plants with a lot of greens. Seasonally, I like to use warmer earth tones like plumb or a deep red in the winter and pale purples (I love listeria or lavender) in the spring!

Just because I love neutrals doesn’t mean everyone should stray from color! If you have a fun and bold style, colorful plants would look great inside your space. Today, I’m talking about five ways to incorporate plants into your home decor!

Anchor a Corner

Using a larger plant in a corner is a great way to draw the eye to that corner of the room. In design, there should always be a hierarchy. By that, I mean that there should be SOMETHING dominant that immediately draws your eye in.

When everything in a space captures the same amount of attention, it can be difficult to decide where to look first. If you were to put some kind of tree in the corner of the room, it draws your eye to that corner and then your eyes will flow throughout the room from there, effortlessly!

On a Tabletop

A plant can add so much life to a table! To give the styling a little something extra, place the plant on top of a couple of large books, or even on a tray. Adding those pieces can be a great way to ground that plant into the design and make it feel intentionally placed there.

On an Open Shelf

Open shelves typically have a lot of “knick-knacks” that are usually only decorative. Adding a plant gives the shelf a little more purpose and a lot of life.

Next to a Standalone Piece of Furniture

Adding a plant next to a standalone piece of furniture or artwork in your household can add some visual interest and depth. Consider adding a plant next to an entryway table or side table so it doesn’t feel so isolated!

In a Hanging Planter

Hanging planters are a fun and unique way to showcase your plants in a space. It instantly adds a ton of personality and interest.
