Now that summer is almost here, I can get back into my summer skin care routine. Summer beauty might be my favorite because it’s all about light makeup and glowy skin, which I think is so beautiful.
Several years ago, I think that the popular beauty look was much bolder, with heavy cat eyes, bold lipsticks, and full-face makeup. Both my skin and my mind are excited that the trend is shifting into something so much more effortless and natural.
Through the years, skin care products have become so much more important to me than makeup products. Good skincare products set such a good foundation for my beauty look, and I feel like I don’t need as much makeup if I take care of my skin first.
I always like to think that my summer skin care routine starts at night. This is when I really take a lot of care of my skin. I hate doing my skincare routine in the morning and then applying makeup right after. I’d much rather give my skin time to breathe and absorb the skincare products I apply overnight.
Every night, I remove my makeup (if I was wearing any that day!), wash my face and then apply my creams and moisturizer. I also love ending the day with hydrogel eye patches that are great for brightening, moisturizing, and depuffing. If I’m not using the hydrogel’s instead I put on eye cream and then use my jade roller to depuff.
SPF is also so important to me! Skin cancer runs in my family, so I’m always conscious of protecting my skin from the sun. When I was younger, it was all about getting tan and soaking in as much sun as possible, and I’ve taken a complete 180-degree turn since then.
Even though I’m no longer laying out all the time, I still love the glowy look, so I use tinted moisturizer, tanning drops, and CC creams that give me the perfect summer look. I also love to apply my blush not only on my cheeks, but also across my nose to give a sunkissed look!
I’ll also go in with my dermabrasion tool every couple of weeks to remove peach fuzz and dead skin cells that may be left on my skin. I love using the dermabrasion tool because it makes my skin so much smoother, brighter, and gives my skin the perfect foundation for any skincare product or makeup application. I truly believe that using the dermabrasion tool helps my skin to absorb my skincare products so much more efficiently.
In the morning, I wash my face and put on the hydrogel eye patches while drinking my coffee. On a normal day, I simply apply my SPF moisturizer with a few self-tanning drops, then after that soaks in I apply CC Cream. If I’m leaving the house or doing anything special, I might also apply powder, bronzer, blush, and mascara!
